Mini-vacation

to Six Flags Great America & we stayed at Key Lime Cove. We left around noon on Sunday, June 27.

We were surprising Ethan with where we were staying. I booked 2 days at Key Lime Cove, which is an indoor water park resort & hotel. When we were halfway there, he asked where we were staying. I just lied and said oh, a Courtyard. I knew he was concerned with the indoor pool area. We told him as we were pulling into the resort that I had lied about the Courtyard. I recorded his reaction in the video below, love it!

Check in time was at 4pm, but I was hopeful to get in earlier to get in some water park time. It took about 15 min wait for check-in. We got in the room and then went to get something to eat at Culvers next door. We were at the water park then by 4pm.DSC00821

We all had fun there. I took pictures right away of everything then we rented a locker to put our flip flops and camera. Everyone there wears a wristband, which is your admittance to the water park, your room key, and even the key to the locker. DSC00771

So neat! Well, until mine fell off when I was going down a tube slide!! We got so paranoid that someone was going to find it and get in our locker take my camera and then get into our room. It wasn’t a big deal, I went to front desk to get a new one coded to our room, but then our locker didn’t open so that required a mgr assistance. Luckily I had my id in my camera case! T was still worried that someone could get into our room so we went back to front desk to have both our bands recoded or so they said.DSC00751

We ate Sunday night there at The Crazy Toucan.DSC00741

On Monday, Trent’s birthday, we went to Great America. The resort had a great shuttle van for us. We even made it on the first trip at 9:30 to the park.

We had perfect weather that day. Just great, low 80s, low humidity, no rain, some clouds. Ethan rode on 3 actual roller coasters- The Dark Knight, Little Dipper, Whizzer. IMG_0281

Ethan couldn’t wait to go on the water rides, the logger ride and the circle boat river ride. Well, 2 of the water rides were down that day, bummer. But we went on Roaring Rapids-that circle boat one. We got soaked! I was the worst. I have never seen these people dryers before and wasn’t sure if it was even a real thing, but we used it after that ride! It helped a little, but I can’t imagine being in there on a hot humid day.

We all were pretty tired and wanted to just relax in the lazy river back at Key Lime Cove. We caught the shuttle at 7:45 and were in the waterpark at 8pm. It closes at 9pm, but it was just enough time for more fun there. E got the hang of going down the curly slides and made a continuous loop down the yellow green slide.DSC00723

On Tuesday morning we had to check out by 11. We loaded up the car, then went back in to their craft room Leapin Lizards. I had read that kids could create their own t-shirt. Thought it would be the ideal souvenir for Ethan.

Ethan played a little at their huge arcade. We ate lunch at Olive Garden, that was really big and nice, then headed back home.

Nice couple of days of fun and relaxation.

I made this video of pics and some videos of our trip, check it out!
