St Patrick’s Day 2012

For St. Patrick’s Day we had Burger King’s green ketchup, so cool!DSC04330 DSC04329  DSC04331

Then we went to CP’s night St Patrick’s Day parade.

all the entries in the parade had to have at least 5 strings of lights on them. Love the horses, too! stpats12-6

love this pic that local paper took of our downtown square – a sea of green!  pipedrumand this guy’s drum was spinning around on its own as he played it and I especially love the lights on it!

Fun that St Pat’s was on a Saturday this year, but we just stayed home.

Ethan’s 9th Birthday

I wanted to do something new for Ethan’s birthday this year. I set up a yarn maze throughout the house. When he woke up on his birthday this guy was outside his door.

I strung yellow(of course) yarn starting at his room then the bathroom IMG_1009

and downstairs to the living room IMG_1010

I needed to keep it in these rooms so our dog didn’t get tangled up in it. He doesn’t really venture into the living room when no one is sitting in there.IMG_1011

first gift was these awesome Happy Birthday glassesDSC04264

on to the bathroom DSC04258  play the video below of Ethan…

It took him about 20 minutes to get to the end, which was iCarly soundtrack. DSC04282

look at that ball of yarn from the maze! DSC04276he found the birthday glasses, March of the Penguins dvd (used), 2 penguin stuffed animals and iCarly cd.

for his bday dinner I made these little penguin meatballs and cheese stuffed breadsticks. The penguins were supposed to have a yellow pepper front bib, but it wouldn’t stay. And he didn’t eat them either. DSC04286 DSC04287

I didn’t get a picture of him with my dad, oops! My mother was missed at the party. She had to go down to be with her mother for the week. She told me not to change the party for her.

 DSC04296

he got an ipod!! It wasn’t the ipod touch that he wanted, but the 5th gen nano we got used off of Amazon.  He did say he would like the ipod that takes video and this one does! It is much better for kids than the current nano that is the small square. That is way too little for kids to use, he would have lost it!

Ethan’s first science fair project

So now that E’s in 3rd grade, he has to do a science project. It had to be a question that you had to prove with some sort of answer. I basically googled ‘3rd grade science fair project’ and this was one of the first ones. It didn’t look too complicated, but it did end up costing more than we expected.

DSC04093

It was to prove if flowers drank cold water or warm water faster. We used red food coloring for the warm water – sitting on a candle warmer, and blue food coloring in the cold water vase.DSC04154

it was quite a test for me to not get so involved in how neat it would look, but I was the one that layed it all out.  DSC04167  DSC04173

We bought the board thru his school, he chose yellow, of course. DSC04174 DSC04175

Ethan is so by the rules and didn’t think he was allowed to type up anything and print up. Well, we know now for next year that is preferred. At the science fair most of them were printed up. The stick on letters, we ran out of some big letters, can you tell?

He had to present and explain it to his class, I think just a quick 2-3 minute presentation. Then answered 2 questions from his teacher and 1 from a classmate. He said it wasn’t a big deal and volunteered to go up to get it done. I think I stressed about it more than I needed to.

Answer :  cold water drinks it faster

Now what will he do next year??
