Tuesday was Ethan first baseball game. He has to be there at 5pm for 5:30pm start. So I have to leave work early around 4:15.
He got benched for the first inning. There are 12 boys on his team and 10 take field – 4 in outfield. Oh well, he was fine in the dugout. or hideout as he called it a few times.
I love how he copied the other boys and had to sit on the top of the bench. It must be the cool thing to do. Another sweet thing I knew he loved was hanging his bat in the fencing.
T had a track meet so couldn’t make his first game. Dale showed up around 6pm.
Ethan was in outfield each time and the ball came to him twice. He did ok, but is still learning.
They use a pitching machine, so the kids just swing at every pitch. We aren’t sure how many pitches they get. Sometimes it seemed like 7 to 10! E didn’t get a hit. He really needs help with his swing. I think he needs a longer bat, which may help.
We weren’t sure how many innings they play. We found out that it is 2 hrs or 6 innings. Yikes. That first game lasted 2 hrs. It was long, they are young. But so cute!
and I need to tell him to pay attention and not play in the dirt!!
coach lining them up for the ‘good game’ hand clap thingie – Ethan fav part from soccer… They don’t really keep score, but I know they didn’t win this first game. This league is 6-7-8 yr olds, and they don’t have any 8yrs on their team.
13 more games to go!!
