I didn’t take as many pics of the fair this year. But I did try to take pics of all the food we ate! That may be the best part of the fair for me now.
Ethan got his mega ride pass again – and since he was a repeater we got it for $45 instead of $55.
According to his pass we went 7 TIMES out of 11 days. Not that bad, right?
first thing I had was Mr.. K’s Bits-N-Fixins. I love it so much, but this year every piece of steak was fatty. I don't know what is going on there, but they are buying crappy cuts of meat. It has gone down hill the last 3 years. The potatoes still rock, had the onions and peppers added and I could do without the roll. Not worth $8.
E’s first of many corn dogs. Not liking that they are now $3.50! They used to be $2.
we sat and ate and watched the horses.
new ride called the Spider that I made him go on….he really didn’t want to ride it. I think he thought it was too babyish, but note he is totally smiling like it is fun. He just went on it this one time.
this fun house changed from Shrek theme to underwater and SpongeBob this year.
Raiders fun house – still one of his favs. I was worried he was going to be too tall for it now, luckily no. The guy working it the first time was teasing him acting like his pass was blank, by only looking at it on the opposite side. It really got him to laugh.
he only rode the big swings – yoyo. The smaller swings, were to babyish.
fun in the water globes again this year.
our favorite game – Bowler Roller On Thursday Ethan couldn't wait to play it and ran a little ahead of me, so funny that the guy running it recognized him from previous years! He said “I remember you” even before I was in view.
Ethan ended up winning 3 times this year!! He had won 2 times before T even won any! I didn’t play that much, so didn’t win this year. T ended up winning about 5-6 times. Ethan has 4 prizes of various sizes. I hope they get a new batch of animals next year, we have some repeats from last year.
Vanilla and orange twist cone – but he didn’t like it so I ate it and he took my choc shake.
T tried the Deep Fried foot long beef hot dog with cheese and jalapenos. He said it was awesome and got it a 2nd time. I never tried it, didn’t look appetizing to me at all.
curly fries – they were super greasy and pretty much made me sick the next day.
E on Cliff Hanger with his baseball teammate.
We won 1 fish this year and then a student of T’s donated like 3 more to us.
Arlene said they lost 101 trees from the June 4 wind storm.
first elephant ear of the fair and it was awesome. Got it at the stand by the gates we enter.
Tenderloin – love them! Ethan and I shared it Tuesday night before the fireworks. It was good, but much thinner than previous years.
something new this year – BearADice, they sang songs. It just opened up at certain times. We only saw it twice.
Ethan told me that those bears are just robots.
we always bring our hot Wisconsin cheese refiller, although I think we only refilled it once for $2 now. Instead we bought pop from the machines for $1.25
fried Oreos to eat while we watch the fireworks Tues. night
Bubba’s BarBQ – didn’t get a pic but we know them – I had pulled pork sandwich and T had hot link
last day of fair we got wrist bands from Arlene and she announced it was her last year as secretary!! Can’t believe she resigned. We signed up T for membership, so we will have a 2nd pass for next year.
Up on the ferris wheel with our boy. It was really windy up there and it was kind of scaring T and me!! Tried not to freak E out, but when it stopped at the top it was scary with all the wind!! I think T and I were just getting spooked due to the tragic stage collapse that had happened at our state’s fair the day before. So sad and shocking, wasn’t it? There have been 7 deaths now.
Shot towards our house even though you can’t see it.
E got to shoot the cork gun game
another new food item for us this year – cinnamon & sugar pretzel, I just had 1 bite and it was about what I expected, ok – nothing great
poster in Heritage Bldg, makes me happy, love the fonts
and this pic was circa when I worked there, as I can name almost everyone.
My memory of this year would be the year that Ethan did not want to ride on any of the ‘kiddie’ rides. It really broke my heart that he didn’t ride the motorcycles and he was still like an inch shorter than the max of 54”. He still didn’t want to ride on the really big kid rides that go upside down, though.
I think we need to add up if the mega ride pass will still a good value for us next year. The wristbands are $20 for 1 day or $15 for a 4 hr period. The individual tickets are basically like $5 for 2 rides. The lines were long, as usual. Amazingly, they were short during the day on the super hot days and long at night and the cooler days. The first weekend was stupid hot and humid and Monday it rained and closed early. Tuesday was nice in 70s and maybe 60s for fireworks. I took towel and Ethan ended up covering up with it. Wed-Fri was low 80s. Sat and Sun still nice and low humidity. A said they were down 15k on Sunday and hoping to make it up that day. I bet they met their total from last year. I loved writing the temp and the attendance total for each day when I worked there, and checking the comparison from the previous year.
I looked just a little in the Family Arts building. I did notice that the big triangular cake display was missing this year, I guess it was broken down too much. We didn’t make it upstairs to see the photos.
Another summer, another fair, and I still love it!
