Enjoying summer

I’m liking that T is getting dinner ready for me when I come home. He is liking trying out new recipes and cooking on his new grill. He has been grilling corn on the cob and it tastes great! June09wedding 001June09wedding 002

See even Ethan like the sweet corn! He is still able to eat corn on the cob with all those missing teeth, too!

Baseball and sport camps

So summer is finally here in Indiana!

We had a fun girls lunch in honor of Kim’s birthday at work.June09 002My gal pals at work, they are so great!

CP made it to semi-state in baseball! We went to SouthBend on Sat. June 13. I was able to get a comp room at SpringHill Suites-love it there! We told E to bring his swim trunks since there was an indoor pool at the hotel. He was sooo excited about it!  On the drive there he asked if we could just swim before the game! Well, the game ended getting rain delayed until later Sat. night. We met up with the team and had lunch after we checked in to our hotel. T kept getting so many calls/texts about the game details. Then around 2 they postponed the game until Monday night! Yeah, so we just stayed over since we had the room. We all had so much fun. Ethan was happy to swim twice on Sat and then again on Sun. morning. He was amazed by the free breakfast on Sunday, too! Love that!

E did so great in the pool, too! He even jumped in from the edge a few times! It helped that another family with 2 little boys were there and jumping in, though! He was actually fearless! And those floaties were hardly holding him up, I think he was treading the water and didnt realize it!

We had dinner at Logan’s Roadhouse which was really good!June09 012

Ethan didn’t have a week off yet since we signed him up for a basketball camp and baseball camp at the high school. They both were June 15-19, Basketball was early at 8-10am then baseball was at 12-1:30pm. I think he like them both and maybe learned a little, too. Between the 2 I think baseball may be better for him. He doesn’t want to practice either at all, which worries me.

He knew some other little boys at the camp, which was good. These are all the baseball coach’s nephews.  June09 016

On the last day, Friday, I treated E out to breakfast at Burger King..June09 030

He said it was the “Best Breakfast Ever”. He had the bacon croissant sandwich and we shared french toast sticks. It has seriously been about 5 yrs since I had a breakfast croissant sandwich!June09 029

End of school year –Teacher gift

I decided to make E’s teacher a gift for the end of the year. I had seen this on another blog, it is not my design.

June09KndrProg 043

I got the shadowbox at Target and then 2 boxes of 24 crayola crayons. I used a piece of yellow bazzill scrapbook paper that I had in my stock. I just used craft glue and lined them up. I broke most of the crayons in half with my hands, but used a knife to clean up a couple of them. I love how it turned out. I had Ethan sign his name on the back and date it. I hope she liked it, both of her initials are P, too!

We are heading to South Bend for the baseball semi-state! I hope it doesn’t get too rainy! Ethan is excited to stay in the hotel and would just be happy to go swimming.

Goodbye Kindergarten

Monday was Ethan’s kindergarten program. I think they all sang 10 songs. Each kid was able to go the front prior to a song to introduce themselves and sing a part of that song.

 June09KndrProg 008ed

Ethan did the peanut butter song and was the first part of the song.Yes, I have video…

June09KndrProg 017ed

This song was like the 2nd to the last one so some of the kids were getting restless.

Ethan had been singing these songs in the car to me a lot lately. It was so cute. He has known the Month Macarena for awhile. I remember correcting the moves for him, look how my kid does the macarena flawlessly. So proud, thank goodness he knows those dance moves! Love it!

Both sets of grandparents were there, too. We went back to his classroom for cookies and lemonade.

Amanda’s soccer game

I had asked when Amanda would have a Sat. game that started at 11am, and luckily, of the 2 left, this Sat. was at 11!

Ethan and I showed up to see her game and I had to bring the camera. June09KndrProg 002June09KndrProg 001  June09KndrProg 003June09KndrProg 005

I think they won…they don’t keep score. It looked like she was one of the only 8 yr olds out there.

Neat crafty mirror

I usually don't comment on crafting ideas I see, but loved the look of this mirror I saw in Country Living magazine.

Isn't it neat? You just use plastic spoons! Love it!

For DMB fans

I was watching Jimmy Fallon the other night, I think Wed. and saw this hilarious clip.
My husband is a fan of Dave Matthews. I just know of his music through him, I never owned any of his cds. Well, I tivoed this when I saw it. Jimmy Fallon does an awesome impersonation of him, and it is sooo clever!

I keep watching it and love it every time! This one actually clipped it off too early, Jimmy starts dancing cooky like Dave does and it was pretty funny.

A weekend of yard work

So we actually took the time this past weekend to mulch our yard. Front and back. We borrowed my dad’s truck and got a truck load of mulch. With that amount we only had enough for most of the front yard beds. We have lived here for 4.5 yrs and this was our first time remulching the yard. The previous owners used those heavy bark chips. It was just getting too thin and thus weedy. So on Sat. we just did the front yard.

On Sunday we went back and got another load, but got a little cheaper version. We still needed to do one side of the house and the back yard. I wanted Trent to landscape a corner of the backyard by E’s playset. We mulched that corner last year, but without the landscape fabric so it is a weedy mess. He did so great with cleaning it out, getting edging and laying out the landscape fabric.

Trent would load up the wheelbarrow with mulch and dump, I was the spreader. We still have 2 smaller areas in the back that need mulch, but who knows when we will get to those areas.

Everything looks pretty nice now.

Here is a BEFORE pic from Sunday morning…

I want to add some color to the chimneya area. I’ll have to do up some pots of some flowers. Still need to decide on it.

Mother’s Day recap finally

A little behind on my Mother’s Day activities post. Trent was going to surprise me and go to Brookfield Zoo. He had been outside on Sat. and thought it was still cold, so didn’t think it would that nice out. I really wanted to go out for breakfast and just go up to Ikea. So that is what we did!

May09 017

It has been over 6 yrs since we had been up to Ikea. I realized that there is a newer store now in Bolingbrook that is closer to us, so we went out there.

I kind of had to psych E up in to going. He didn’t know what Ikea was, of course. I explained that is was a store and would have little rooms setup. Oh, and I got him all excited about the escalator for the shopping carts. Well, the Bolingbrook store does not have a cart escalator! No prob, he totally forgot about it by the time we were there!

May09 011

Ethan seemed to love checking out all the little rooms. He had to type on EVERY computer keyboard and turn on EVERY tv in the room setups. Everytime. They were just props, but they are really realistic!

I really didn’t get anything big and exciting. Ethan got the neatest stuff. A cool play tent for $10 and this hanging pocket shelf that was castlelike. I still need to hang it up in his room, I want to throw some stuffed animals in it.

I had heard about their cinnamon rolls, 6 nice sized rolls for $4! So we had to get some on the way out.

Trent had heard there was a Bass Pro Shops across the street that had a nice restaurant.May09 043 May09 038

This was the entrance from inside the store…May09 023

E surprised us and order a chocolate shake, instead of his usual choc milk! Darn kid can read the menu now!May09 025

It was a great place, Fish Company Restaurant. I got the shrimp boat – 3 types of shrimp, yum!  Our waiter suggested the appetizer of alligator, and Ethan thought that was weird. So we had to try it out! When it arrived to our table it just looked like chicken nuggets, and that is what E thought it was when he asked us. So being good parents, we had to lie and say that it was just chicken nuggets!! That kid would not have tried it if we didn’t. E ate it up, no problem! It was really heavily breaded and rather peppery. He didn’t even complain that it was spicy! The alligator was a mixture of fish & chicken tasting, but really it was mostly that breading!May09 026

Yes, I totally bought that “My Mom Rocks” shirt for him, but I forgot about it and laid out a different outfit. Hubster actually remembered it and told him to put it on!! He has one that says “My dad rocks” with a drum kit, too. I better remember it for Father’s Day, huh?May09 028crop

They had a huge aquarium in the restaurant that divided the bar and dining area. May09 036May09 037

I am so lucky to be Mommy to this cute, sweet boy…

May09 047May09 022

WE got home in time to go over to see Trent’s mom. My mom went to see her mother, so she didn’t get her gift until Tues.
