First picnic this summer

I had planned a quick picnic to the park/fairgrounds for Ethan. He basically just wanted to go so he could have the lunchable kit with sandwich and drink I had bought for him a couple of weeks ago. We decided to go on Sunday, May 30 which T thought was way to hot and humid. Well, Ethan and i still wanted to go, so we did! I thought it wouldn’t be too bad sitting under all the trees by the playground and it wasn’t bad and even had a breeze.

Then later that night we washed the cars in the driveway. It has been a couple of years since we actually washed our cars ourselves! DSC00476

Parent’s Day

Ethan’s class had a Parent’s Day on May 20. I just went into work later, so I could attend it. He told us he had to wear ‘city’ clothes, or church clothes. We decided on what he wore on Easter, sweater vest and shirt.

He was so cute when he greeted us. He took his spot on the risers, in the back row. DSC00397

They sang a few songs, so cute!

DSC00399DSC00398   They did a skit and I think every kid had a speaking part, didnt even realize that was coming so didn’t have video running for E’s part! His part was a couple of lines and he had it all memorized and all on his own!

Then the kids could go out to lunch with their parents. Ethan chose McD’s since others in his class were going there. We had planned on going to Pops, but then he changed his mind.

I think around 7 kids were there from his class.  DSC00408 DSC00409 and then they even walked around and passed out free cookies!

Now only 2 more weeks of school!

Family Fun night at E’s school

Ethan’s school had an end of the year cookout/family fun night on Friday, May 14. E really wanted to go. T had to work that night, so just Ethan and I went. They had a fun gift basket raffle you could enter and put your tickets to enter which one you wanted.

Ethan was most excited about the cool inflatables. I really thought it was going to be 1 bouncy house with a huge line of a 100 kids. So glad that they had 3 huge ones!

We waited in the long line for our hot dog and sat with a girl from his class. One of Ethan’s little girl friends found him and they were even holding hands while in line for jumpy. E explained that they wanted to race each so they were trying to stay in line like that.

Oh, and we didn’t win anything.

Chilly 2nd game

His 2nd baseball game required layers! It was cold for May 8 game.

U. Derrik got to come to see him, too!

We got him a new longer bat! NEW BAT=HIT

He did super, he got his first hit and then he got a second one!! We were so happy & proud of him, and almost surprised that he hit it!

We are so proud of you, Ethan!! It looks like he thought he was in trouble.

and then he got to lead the team to the ending “Red Sox” cheer.DSC00232DSC00233 I think they won this game, even though they don’t keep score.

He is loving getting those treats at the concession stand after his games. I remember thinking that was such fun when I was a kid.

New camera!

So we decided to get a new camera. I almost decided on a SLR camera, but realized that was just too high tech for my use, way too expensive and I still wanted movie mode – which SLR with movie would have been even more $$!!

We got a Sony HX1 and we LOVE it!! It takes super pics, the zoom is soo awesome and not blurry!! And when we press the button to take a pic it takes it right when we want it without a delay-most awesome! It has high-def video, too!

Our very first pic – of course of the dog…

I think Ethan was fast asleep once it had charged.

So some of Ethan the next morning… DSC00039  DSC00047DSC00168

First game

Tuesday was Ethan first baseball game. He has to be there at 5pm for 5:30pm start. So I have to leave work early around 4:15.

He got benched for the first inning. There are 12 boys on his team and 10 take field – 4 in outfield. Oh well, he was fine in the dugout. or hideout as he called it a few times. IMG_9977

I love how he copied the other boys and had to sit on the top of the bench. It must be the cool thing to do. Another sweet thing I knew he loved was hanging his bat in the fencing.IMG_9984

T had a track meet so couldn’t make his first game. Dale showed up around 6pm.

Ethan was in outfield each time and the ball came to him twice. He did ok, but is still learning.

They use a pitching machine, so the kids just swing at every pitch. We aren’t sure how many pitches they get. Sometimes it seemed like 7 to 10! E didn’t get a hit. He really needs help with his swing. I think he needs a longer bat, which may help.

IMG_9987 IMG_9986 IMG_9985  IMG_9983  We weren’t sure how many innings they play. We found out that it is 2 hrs or 6 innings. Yikes. That first game lasted 2 hrs. It was long, they are young. But so cute!

and I need to tell him to pay attention and not play in the dirt!!

IMG_9990coach lining them up for the ‘good game’ hand clap thingie – Ethan fav part from soccer… They don’t really keep score, but I know they didn’t win this first game. This league is 6-7-8 yr olds, and they don’t have any 8yrs on their team.IMG_999113 more games to go!!
