So we paid off my Equinox at the end of 2009, so that meant we could trade and shift cars and buy me a new one!
I first went shopping with my mom, since she is shopping for a new car, too! These all were contenders that I test drove:
Honda CR-V
Mazda CX7
Chevy Equinox
Nissan Rogue
Nissan Cube
I really like my current Equinox, the new ones are really different. I loved that they had all the features my current one has. Only con was that I didn’t like the car seat design. Also, I think I just wanted something new.
CX-7 drove great, loved the seats, but didn’t have daytime running lights or song titles. These are 2 criteria I really wanted. I like not having to turn on my lights and I love knowing the song titles. It is called RDS, radio data system.
Honda CR-V was okay, just didn’t love it. For it to have the features I wanted, it would have been over want we budgeted.
Nissan Rogue drove great, I felted a little cramped in it. Also, the features that I wanted would have been over budget.
There was a Cube in the showroom, which is an odd cube shaped car. The car wasn’t on my radar AT ALL. I had never heard of it. I sat in the Krom model in the showroom and was amazed by how spacious it was. It was so funky inside and I loved the seat design. It had all the features in this model, top of the line – auto lights, privacy glass, song titles, 11 cup holders, ipod hookup, steering audio controls, cruise, and a rearview camera. I thought wow, wonder how much these are, probably close to 28,000? The sticker was 21,070! At the moment, the Cube was added to my list! I grabbed a brochure to study.
I visited tons of forums to see what some cons of the Cube. The cons of the Cube are that it has 122 horsepower, not great. Also, I heard that there is some wind noise, due to the aerodynamics.
Well, I decided on the Cube Krom model in black. We put money down to reserve it, since they had to get a black for me from another dealership. I have never done that before, I even thought it would be more money for them to get it from another place. We put money down last Sat. and picked it up on Friday!
I found this pic online of what it looks like. The front chrome grills aren’t my fav, but it is the feature of the ‘Krom’ model.
One of the cool features on it is that it has 20 color interior lights along the front foot area and in the cup holders. Those that know me well, know that the color was immediately changed to purple. It is so neat! It is really cool at night, don’t really notice it daytime.
and check how the back opens up.
We sold T’s 2000 Malibu to my friend, Sally’s brother. Worked out perfectly all around. I was worried how it all would work. We usually trade in our cars at the dealership. He offered us $500 more than what the dealer would offer us. He really wanted a used Malibu. T’s car only had 69K miles on it, too!
He sent a check up to us last week, before even seeing the car in person! So glad that it worked out, so we could use that money for the downpayment for my cube! He picked up the Malibu on Saturday.
