Weekend in Indy

Since the wrestling team made it to state, T needed to go down for the big meet on Sat. I decided that it would be fun for us all to go down there for the whole weekend. I wanted to be sure we could get a room at one of my company’s properties, so it would be comped. So excited to get to stay downtown at Courtyard.

I thought it would be great to get away and so Ethan could go swimming.

He ended up going swimming 4 different times, wow.

I also wanted to go to the Children’s Museum there, now that he is older.

Also, I wanted to get to see my friend, Sherry and her family. I was hoping to meet up at the museum.

I almost missed her phone call, reception at the museum wasn’t ideal, but we were able to meet up and hang out. So fun! I loved how E would follow L around everywhere. L has been there a bunch of times and they have a season pass since they are local.

This is at the entrance & ticketing area.

IMG_9651 Ethan played on the carousel level when we were waiting for Sherry’s family. E loved all these little play houses, even an ice cream storeIMG_9650 IMG_9649 IMG_9648

E was stuck up in this treehouse for a while with the little kids. There was a slide in the middle to get out of it and I just knew that he was waiting his turn and being polite. He said that some kids were walking up the slide, which he knows NOT to do. Ugh, I hate when kids do that. T and I totally figured that was the issue. IMG_9647

hey there is Sherry in the background… I didn’t get any pics of us togetherIMG_9663

E loves anything with computers so he had to make up a promiseIMG_9666IMG_9664

little David wanted to play on the computer, tooIMG_9667

then they even had a mock tv news stationIMG_9668IMG_9669

what fun IMG_9670ed

They even had a script to read, too neat!IMG_9672

they really loved Egypt, too… so cool IMG_9675 IMG_9674 IMG_9673

aww…they posed like thisIMG_9677

then I told them to look at meIMG_9678 IMG_9676

they had a restaurant with menus so the kids got to serve us…too neat IMG_9688 IMG_9687

After the museum we went to Shapiro’s Deli and T had an awesome pastrami sandwich, his first one ever.

E loves staying in a hotel. T and I brought our laptops with the free wi-fi. IMG_9692

We had to get home on Sunday morning to attend Matthew’s birthday party at 1pm. I wanted to go out for breakfast, looked up a Golden Corral and Cracker Barrel. We didn’t find the Cracker Barrel, so we ended up at a Golden Corral. Then they had already taken away the breakfast items by the time we got there! Indy is an hour later so we really weren’t expecting it.

Fun to get away and for free! Well, I did have a parking fee at the hotel $17, geez that downtown fee. It was so great to see Sherry and her family. Oh, and wrestling team was knocked out of the tourney by noon, so that is why we were able to go to the museum relatively early.

CPHS Alumni Assoc. banquet

My dad was inducted into the Teacher Hall of Fame for CPHS Alumni Association. I attended the banquet on Sat. with my parents. My sister was down in FL visiting her friend on a preplanned trip.

They honored 7 teachers this year and 6 alumni, too.

It was held at the high school’s new banquet room.

These three teachers were in attendance. My dad, Alice Lauterbur, Marion Kellum.

Valentine’s Day

We went out to breakfast at Northwoods for Valentine’s Day. It was decorated great there, too! We actually had to wait for a table. Ethan got his hair cut, which was really needed!

Febmore2010 001

She spiked it up…I thought it looked really cute!

 Febmore2010 002

Then we had to go to Alsip’s to look at the puppies, which is always fun to do.

This little American Eskimo/Poodle mix was my fav. Then they pulled him out to play in the open area. What a cutie!

Febmore2010 005

Later on we got my fav heart shaped pizza…

Febmore2010 006

I think last year’s heart was much better shaped.

 Febmore2010 008

We traded cards that morning. Ethan got a webkin that was a koala bear, he named it Valerie.

I got T “The Hangover” on dvd, since he loved that movie.

I hinted to T that I liked this ring…

so that is what he surprised me with! Love it! Love the purple, love the sparkle, love the bigger size of it!

Superbowl 44 Colts vs Saints

We just stayed home to watch the superbowl. I am like most girls, they watch it for commercials.

Feb2010 018superbwl44

It was a little more interested in the game this year. Colts are my home state and The Saints have Brees, who is a Purdue alum. Do I root for home state team or my college fellow alum??

colts_logo                   saints

I really didn’t care, but I chose to root for The Colts. T was rooting for Saints, although. He had some side bets going with some buds so was having fun figuring out who was winning money. I think he ended up winning something.

I also enjoy making up special food, which makes it more fun.

We had Turkey Chili in the crockpot, which was soooo good this time..

Cornbread muffins, some with hot dogs inside…

Roast beef and cheese croissant snacks… didn’t get a pic of them cut up, each one was sliced to 6 pcs.

T even cleaned up the downstairs and vacuumed so I would come down there to watch the game on the hi-def tv. It was nice and relaxing SuperBowl Sunday at our house. I only lasted until the 2nd qtr without my laptop, though.

Matt’s basketball game

E and I went to Matt’s game at the Y on Sat. It had snowed about 4-5” on Friday night so I actually shoveled out the driveway before going to his game. T was at work early, so didn’t have time to shovel. I wish he would get the snow blower fixed.

At his game, he is on green, and they really spend a lot of time with warmups.  Feb2010 002ed Feb2010 006edFeb2010 004ed

They did a good job of rotating the kids around, he sat out a couple of games. I think there were 8 kids on his team.

Feb2010 007ed

I thought it was a good idea that each kid wore a colored vest and then they looked for that color on the other team as who they were supposed to guard. I know this may be common with the lil kiddies, it is just my first time to a little kid game.

Feb2010 008ed

When T was at the Portage game a few days ago, he was compelled to go to Bass Pro Shops to pick up a whirly-pop. I guess he wanted one for Christmas, and I didn’t catch that hint?

Feb2010 009

We had a Sat. night popcorn night with different seasons, too! E helped turn it until they really started popping and T took over so they wouldn’t burn.

Ethanism

I took Ethan to get a new winter coat since he was outgrowing his current one. I usually get him a red coat. When we were shopping he said he wanted a black colored coat. He didn’t explain why to me though. He only tried on a couple and we decided on the Nike one that was on sale at Kohl’s.

The next morning T saw it and asked him why he picked out a black coat and he said, “The sun is attracked to black, so that would be good to wear in the cold winter.” Love that kid, he is learning.
