Trip to the orchard

We went to County Line Orchard on Sunday. It was my first time there. The boys went when E was in preschool and E remembered it some.

We got some hot apple cider that was soooo good! Then we headed out to the orchards on the tractors DSC01254 DSC01253

Ethan’s favorite kind of apple is Fuji so we were headed for that field, also T wanted Suncrisp that was in the neighboring field.

We were told that a lot of the trees were really picked over. We walked down 2 aisles of Fuji and there were NONE.

He picked some Golden Delicious ones first.   DSC01258 DSC01259 DSC01260 DSC01261

We found a big bin at the end of an aisle and Ethan said he found a Fuji in there, at least he said it tasted like one. I doubt it really was, but it made him happy.

and T even asked if it was “all you can eat when out in the fields” That poor kid gave him the oddest look.  DSC01277 DSC01278 DSC01279 DSC01286 DSC01287 DSC01291

the pumpkin donuts were my fav! We just got 3 of apple and 3 of pumpkin. They were $1 each! or 6 were $4 and 12 were $7.

Ethan thought this big apple was neat and he had to get that cute little pumpkin that he named Minnow.  DSC01304

we were trying to find the MooChoo Train ride that we bought a ticket for Ethan. This lady led us the back way through the Kids Farm. She didn’t realize that we didn’t buy that wristband to get in there, though! We got to see all this stuff, which was neat. this band was playing where we were standing in line for the train and there were bunch of picnic tables for there for the grill.  DSC01352

i liked this guy’s sparkly purple guitar – so cool! DSC01351

It was a really neat place, it was crowded and it was a cool day. We were surprised by the amount of cars from IL.

We ended up buying a dozen pumpkin donuts

Wedding weekend

So Trent was in a wedding on Sat. his college buddy, that was in our wedding 11 yrs. ago. Kevin and Liza had a lovely wedding day.

IMG_0386We left early early Saturday morning, like in the car by 6:40am. It was down in Brookville, we stayed in Batesville, reception was in Guilford and they were all basically 30 min apart. The wedding started at 1:30, which was 12:30 our time and then T needed to be there an hour prior since we was an usher. We got there right at 12:30.

We thought Brookville felt like Hobart. The downtown area really resembled it, but I’m sure the population was way less.

Ethan was good at the church, for the most part.

IMG_0384   And then he got annoyed with his tie…IMG_0385

and then had use the bathroom during the ceremony, but luckily T went to the back since he had to do his dismissing duties soon after.IMG_0382

Ethan and I waited outside and he created his own ‘boutonniere’ a word I don’t think he really knew before this weekend.

IMG_0389  i love how put it in his little button hole, too! IMG_0388

by this time I let him take off the tie… IMG_0387

We used Dave’s tomtom, plus I had printed up some directions in the different combos. The tomtom gps sent us through some back roads, I guess it was the quickest route. They route we took from church back to hotel was super curvy and hilly, but was neat.  IMG_0378 IMG_0379 IMG_0380

The reception was at a winery and again, used the tomtom and thought we were lost but then just ended up and found it.

We asked someone to take our pic. IMG_0391 IMG_0392 IMG_0395

We sat with another family with 3 kids, I guess Liza used to be their babysitter. Ethan hit it off with the 2 little ones and was even dancing with them later.

E was too cute asking for a ‘kiddie cocktail’ at the bar!  IMG_0398  IMG_0400  IMG_0402

Ethan was happy he got to go swimming on Sunday morning at the hotel and have the breakfast buffet. I missed both and slept in.

On the way home we stopped in Lafayette to eat lunch. I wanted to go to the McDonald’s diner, a sit down service diner that we saw on the travel channel. We couldn’t find it so we ate at Fazoli’s since it has been forever since we had it. Googled that mcd’s once at home and found out it they changed it way back in 2004! Way for the updated program on unique McDonalds there Travel Channel!

Sept - Fall

My family received sad news with death of my mother’s cousin. Mary Jane was her dearest closest cousin. She died due to a tragic accident while driving a 4 wheeler atv. So sad and sudden. She enjoyed such adventures with her family and they had been out in Colorado when it occurred.

The visitation was on Friday/Saturday down in Indy. My parents shuffled their trip plans around to be able to attend it. I My sister and I did not go down, though.

Odd thing that on the day before she died I was using the nice farberware pot she gave me for my wedding and truly thought of her.

On Sat. night was Casino Night at the fairgrounds. T and I went again this year. Always a fun time and this year we knew the dealer, but that didn’t help. At all! This was the first time we lost all of our money! Shocking! We usually break even or just lose around $5, so bad this time.

IMG_0370 IMG_0372 IMG_0369

and then the Zubie bros sat at our table at the end of the night. We played blackjack for like 6 hrs and I don’t know why but it is fun! It was packed with people, so we made sure to get a table early. T gets us in for free and we get food, drink with free refills at the table and dj music. It is really loud with the music and people talking though. T and I look forward to this weekend all year, we don’t really go out enough.

his ankle is fractured!

So I guess his ankle is fractured after all. We went to see Dr. Tim today to get another xray. Last Monday he thought it just might have been since it was still a little swollen. He is walking normal without a limp, I even catch him running and tell him to stop.

I have no experience looking at x-rays but when it was on the screen even my eyes went to this little triangle spot that looked like it was chipped! That was the fracture. The one good thing was that he didn’t need a cast and crutches. He said that kids at the age are resilient and he should heal without it. Just no running or jumping still and no gym.

We go back on Oct. 4 for another set of x-rays and see the progress. Dr. Tim said that if the same injury happened to adults, we would be casted for 6 weeks for it to heal. Interesting.

fun at playground

My mom was wanting to take her grandkids to the new playground at her elem school she used to teach at. Ethan had never been to it, so he was so excited.

IMG_0349We made sure not to have E jump off anything or run with his hurt ankle.

IMG_0353

They had this neat zip slide like thing. I was worried E would fall off of it and kept walking with him.  IMG_0348

Amanda was so funny yelling hi to me from my mom’s new car…DSC01247so then Matt had to say hi…DSC01248 then Ethan, of course, had to try it out too…DSC01249
